Snow? How strange.

It's snowing here. I took some video about a 1/2 hour ago to document the snow falling, but I had to do it again since it started snowing harder and sticking a little.

We're just sitting around in our pajamas, enjoying a lazy Saturday morning. There are errands to run today and fun dinner plans with friends, but for now we'll just snuggle up and stay put.

Theo can "cook"

Theo wanted to cook with me today, so I thought up a way he could "cook" while I did. He loved passing the kernels back and forth between the spoon and cup and even managed to learn that they weren't for eating. I was very proud of him and can't wait until I can teach him about cooking and make fun things together!

My beautiful, wonderful (and active) boy

We had a playdate with a friend of a friend today and I really got to see Theo's personality in action. He is such an inquisitive, active little guy and I saw such a sharp contrast between him and the more quiet, thoughtful personality of our friend's daughter.

It is so hard for me when I see Theo struggling to "behave" in an environment he isn't familiar with. He is typically and very obedient little boy, but I do give him a lot of freedom at home. Perhaps I am setting him up for failure when we visit other people's houses because I allow him to explore so freely in his own house.

I don't want to be second guessing myself as a mother, but being a mama is sometimes so hard to figure out. What is best.....what is right......what is best and right for my particular child???

I guess I will just have to keep praying for wisdom, energy, and discernment as we raise this wonderful child. He IS wonderful and his personality has a special purpose in God's plan for his life. I know it does.

*Lord,

Give me wisdom as I try to be the best Mama I can for Theo and Penelope. Give me your eyes to see, not just their behavior, but their intentions and their hearts. Give me ears to listen to their needs and give me the strength and energy to keep you at the front of my mind each day.

Amen

Penny is 2 months old (officially yesterday)

Here are some pictures that clearly show Penny's special version of what Andy's mom calls the "Lewis Charm".

She is still a very happy, easy going baby and we are enjoying her very much!

We'll be coming to Port Orchard this weekend to celebrate Easter and I can't wait to introduce her to all of our friends and family there.

Lil' Cub Asa and Pennybear

Here is a cute picture of Asa and Penny in their bear suits this afternoon. Aren't they adorable? We wanted to make sure and get their picture together before they outgrow these sweet buntings. Suzanne mentioned that it will really great to show these to them when they're about 12 years old and see how embarrassed they get! I can't wait!!

Two little cuties!

We all went for an "evening constitutional" last night after dinner and Penny rode in the stroller for the 1st time! We walked for about a 1/2 hour and both of the kids seemed to enjoy it. A neighbor had loaned us a special pad that makes the jogging stroller more cushy for a newborn. It really seemed to help take up the extra space around Penny and kept her from bouncing around too much on the bumpy trail!

Penny helps with the laundry

She likes to ride around in the laundry basket on top of the clothes when Andy is taking them from room to room. Today she helped me by lying on the folded clothes and making cute, happy sounds.

New pack n' play

We got a super cute portable crib/play yard from 2 families at Andy's school as a shower gift, but it was very pink (and gorgeous, but very pink) and seemed huge in our living room (which is where we wanted to use it). We used it for a few days and then decided to look for a smaller option. Graco makes a diferent model called the Pack n' Play Lite which is 20% smaller and comes in a beautiful dark brown, cream, and mint design. We picked it up last Friday and have really been enjoying it. I took a few pictures of Penny in it and one of Theo for size comparison!

Big-Boy-Diaper

Theo doesn't like to have his diaper changed, so my mom made up a game to distract him. She says, "big boy diaper" in a silly voice and it makes him hold still just long enough to get his clean diaper fastened. Yesterday he started saying it when I was changing him. It was kindof hard to get him to say it for the camera, but here you go.

Now he's in the kitchen playing with some paper napkins and saying, "Memaw? (his name for my mom) Big Boy Diaper!" over and over. Quite funny!

Is this what it's for??

I got the baby swing out of the garage for Penny today. She wasn't too impressed with it, but the batteries are almost completely dead (imagine that....dead batteries after being in the garage for a year?), but I didn't have time to put it away before Theo got up from his nap. I was replying to an e-mail when I looked over and saw him happily sitting in it. I probably started a game that I won't want to continue in a few days (but I can always put it back in the garage right?), but it was too fun to pass up!

Enjoy

I really do like it....and I'm not just saying that

I like being a mom. I am excited about what I do with my days and I look forward to being with my kids. Penny is cute and snuggly and Theo is quite the interesting companion. They do honestly keep me entertained. I'm so glad to be able to be with them full-time because I really feel like I know who they are and can love them for more than just the obvious reasons (they're cute, I'm their mom, they remind me of Andy, etc.)

Life is good.
