Theo's 1st Swim

We took Theo to the pool today for his 1st swim. Bellingham has a summer event called Get Movin' and today was the kick-off event. Andy and I signed up and committed to 30 minutes of activity each day this summer. I almost signed Theo up, but Andy reminded me that he is active all day, so he can't really commit to more activity! The pool was open for several hours today free of charge for Get Movin' participants. We saw our friend Nikki and her 2 girls at the pool and they entertained (or kept him from crying) Theo while he got used to the water. All in all, he had a good time and we'll definitely be taking him again. I'd love to do baby swim classes with him, but I don't know if we'll have time this summer. I'll try. Sorry there isn't a picture. We didn't want to take our camera to the pool!

Lazy Summer Days

Andy has been home for 4 days now. We are loving it! We don't get much accomplished, but after last week (busy, busy, busy), I think we're all entitled to some rest and doing nothing. Theo started crawling forward yesterday and we thought that was really cool. Well, today he has continued to crawl forward and has started pulling up on things. I guess it's only a matter of time before he's completely mobile! I guess that's why I cherish our sweet times nursing on the couch or bed so much. For those 20 minutes, he is my tiny, little baby again and not the squirmy big kid that he is truly becoming. Well, dinner is done, so I need to go feed my boys.

How will Theo treat his little brother or sister

I know there are many, many months to help Theo prepare for the birth of his new sibling, but now seems like as good a time to start as any. We found Peanut today in the toy box. Peanut is a little doll that I mothered before Theo was born. He is soft, small, and has his own peanut-shaped bunting. He will be Theo's practice baby. We spent some time this afternoon talking about how we have to be very gentle with babies and treat them kindly. Theo interpreted my requests and showed me he "understood" by throwing Peanut, biting Peanut, and carefully inspecting Peanut's ribbon hair. Luckily he likes his baby doll, so we'll just have to keep practicing and praying for a good transition to a family of 4.

My sweet boy

Theo and I have had a great day together. I haven't been feeling too well (since we am expecting another baby.....for those of you who didn't know yet) and Theo has been being a real sweetheart for his Mama. He has spent plenty of time cuddling quietly with me, napping with me on the couch, and playing happily with his toys. I am grateful to have a son like him. Here he is in all of his super cuteness wearing his new Huggalugs leg warmers (thanks for letting them go Lucas!). He is now sitting next to me on the floor playing his tiny xylophone and making "p" sounds and spitting everywhere. What a guy!
